California Xtreme Fighting (CXF) made its debut at the Upland Sports Arena on April 29th, 2006. It was the first legal sanctioned Mixed Martial Arts event in the Inland Empire. It featured ten exciting cage fights with Art Santore and Jay Martinez for the main event which was a huge success from the weigh-ins to the last fight, everything ran smooth.

CXF was formed by Mike Rush, owner of United Mixed Martial Arts in La Mirada, Ca. Val Leedy, instructor and matchmaker from United Mixed Martial Arts. As well as with the help of Dennis Warner of InSync Productions and Bob Chaney of Bob Chaney Martial Arts in Upland.

We have patiently waited for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts to become sanctioned in California. In the meantime, we have built a successful MMA program at United Mixed Martial Arts (UMMA) in La Mirada, Ca with the help of Erik Paulsson, Bob Chaney, Val Leedy, Jay Martinez, Al Gonzalez, Ronnie Tunac, Victor Wessling, and Mike Rush. Fighters such as Ken Shamrock, Josh Barnet, Vernon White, Guy Metzger, and Wes Combs, and more have come in to train.

Mike Rush and Val Leedy have held numerous events at UMMA, "Smokers" for amateur fighters to gain experience. Also, Mike and Val have assisted in kick boxing events with Dennis Warner to gain the experience and knowledge needed to host a large event.

With the "Smokers" at UMMA selling out every time and everyone wanting more, when MMA became legal in California, Mike Rush applied for his promoters license and Val Leedy for a matchmaker license so they could have large events. Mike Rush vowed to make CXF about the fighters. "As a trainer and gym owner, I know what these guys go through to get ready for a fight. It takes tremendous dedication and heart." Val Leedy agrees having fought in both kick boxing and MMA events.
